Bournemouth close in on new left-back previously admired by Liverpool

According to The Pitch Prospect, Bournemouth are in advanced talks with Argentine club Lanus over left-back Julio Soler.

The Cherries hope to complete an £8million deal for the 19-year-old in the coming days.

Soler is a Paraguay-born Argentina youth international and made four appearances at the Paris Olympics last summer.

He joined the Lanus academy in 2014 and made his senior team debut in 2022, playing a total of 58 times for the club.

Premier League leaders Liverpool had previously shown interest in the left-back.

The Cherries already have Milos Kerkez in their ranks, with the former AC Milan talent considered one of the Premier League’s best full-backs.

Kerkez is unlikely to leave this month but The Pitch Prospect understands Manchester United are interested in the Hungarian.

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola revealed on Friday that they do not intend to sell any players this month.

“No, that is not the club’s plan,” he said in his press conference.

“We want to keep all players, especially those who play almost every game.

“You can’t give any guarantees because this is the market and you don’t know what’s going to happen, but that’s not in our plans.”

Central defender Dean Huijsen is also attracting transfer interest following an impressive debut season at Bournemouth.

The Sun have reported that Real Madrid are eyeing the 19-year-old, but a move is more likely to happen in the summer.

Bournemouth have been one of the standout performers in the Premier League this season.

They are seventh in the table, five points behind the top four, so qualifying for Europe is definitely a possibility.

However, due to interest from other European teams, they may find it difficult to keep their best players beyond the end of the season.
