Player ratings as Savinho & Haaland dazzle in convincing win

Manchester City secured a comfortable 4-1 win over West Ham United on Saturday to secure their second consecutive Premier League victory.

West Ham looked sharp on counter-attacks in the early stages but their wastefulness was punished in the tenth minute when the home side took the lead. Vladimir Coufal’s unfortunate own goal gave them the advantage when Savinho’s cross bounced off the Czech defender’s shin and then flew past Alphonse Areola’s wrong foot.

Man City flexed their attacking muscles as the half drew to a close, securing a significant second place three minutes before half-time. The energetic Savinho beat Erling Haaland with a precise cross and the Norwegian made no mistake in heading past Areola.

The same duo as Man City quickly put the game beyond doubt ten minutes after half-time when Savinho released Haaland and the imposing centre-forward threw on Konstantinos Mavropanos before passing over Areola.

Things got even worse for the visitors just three minutes later when erratic passing gave Man City their fourth goal. Kevin De Bruyne took advantage of Mohammed Kudus’ mistake and found Phil Foden, who hit the net with ease.

West Ham reduced the deficit with 20 minutes left when Niclas Fullkrug fired a shot beyond Stefan Ortega, but it was little more than a consolation after another disappointing performance that left Julen Lopetegui under pressure.
