Liverpool have confirmed that the Merseyside derby, which was canceled last month, has been rescheduled for Wednesday February 12.
The Reds were due to make the short trip to Everton in early December but the game was postponed after Merseyside Police advised against unnecessary travel due to severe weather warnings.
Both teams have had fewer games than their opponents, but things will be tight next month if Liverpool make it to Goodison Park again.
It will almost certainly be the last Merseyside derby at Goodison as Everton will move to their new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock at the end of the season. The only exception to this would be if both teams win their respective FA Cup fourth round games and meet later.
Crucially, this fixture remains dependent on Liverpool’s performance in the Champions League, as it falls on the same day as the knockout play-off round. The Reds are currently top of the table and need just a point from their remaining two games to automatically qualify for the round of 16, which will almost certainly be possible anyway given their impressive position in the table.
Liverpool are also top of the Premier League, holding an impressive lead over the likes of Nottingham Forest, Arsenal and Chelsea, despite having played a game less than surrounding teams.
Everton, meanwhile, have just welcomed David Moyes back into the dugout as they look to climb out of the relegation zone. The Toffees are currently one point ahead at the time of the announcement.
