Fears of a cruciate ligament injury soon emerged and Arsenal have now confirmed the devastating diagnosis.

“Gabriel Jesus was substituted during our game against Manchester United on Sunday and has undergone extensive examinations, scans and specialist assessments which have confirmed that he has sustained an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee,” a club statement said.

“Gabby will undergo surgery in the coming days and will soon begin his recovery and rehabilitation program.”

“We will continue to keep everyone updated on Gabby’s recovery, with everyone at the club fully focused on supporting Gabby to ensure he returns to full fitness as quickly as possible.”

Arsenal have not given a timeframe for Jesus’ return, but such injuries typically require a rehabilitation period of around nine months, meaning he will not return to action until towards the end of 2025.
