Carlo Ancelotti clashes with Real Madrid hierarchy over January transfer plans

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti asks for reinforcements in January transfer A report states that the members of the window were fired internally by club officials.

Despite the summer additions of strikers Kylian Mbappe and Endrick, Madrid have struggled to show their best form this season. They sit second in La Liga, 20th in the Champions League standings and were recently beaten 5-2 by Barcelona in the Super Cup final.

Concerns about a lack of depth in defense have been exacerbated this season by injuries to Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao, while David Alaba returned to the bench in the Super Cup final for the first time since tearing his cruciate ligament in December 2023.

The athlete Ancelotti has made no secret of his desire for reinforcements this month as he fears Madrid will miss their targets for 2024/25, but those feelings are not shared by those in charge.

In fact, club officials do not believe significant signings make sense in the January transfer window – their last winter signing was the acquisition of Brazilian midfielder Reinier in 2020 for £26m.

There is a consensus that a new centre-back and a new right-back are needed in the summer window. Madrid remain interested in signing Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer and even considered a winter move, but found the suggestion of a cheaper move quickly rejected by the Anfield side.
