Two late goals secured Brentford a 2-2 draw against Manchester City on Tuesday.
Both sides created a handful of clever chances in a wasteful first half. City’s positional dominance appeared to have returned as they managed 20 touches inside the Brentford penalty area, but they were only able to convert this into two shots on target before half-time.
Savinho hit the post five minutes after the restart and Erling Haaland should have opened the scoring with a header shortly after, but after Mikkel Damsgaard saw a goal ruled out for offside, City took the lead with a superb volley from Phil Foden converted by Kevin De Bruyne’s whipped cross.
Nathan Ake cleared from the line to preserve City’s lead, which was doubled with 12 minutes left when Foden fired a rebounded shot into the goal, giving Pep Guardiola’s side a lead that seemed insurmountable.
Brentford, however, refused to lie down. Yoane Wissa equalized for the hosts in the 82nd minute before Christian Norgaard headed the equalizer in stoppage time.
In the 95th minute the Bees even thought they had won, but Ake cleared another goal off the line to save a point for a shocked City.
