Everton sign promising Chelsea striker Louna Ribadeira on loan

Everton have announced the signing of Chelsea striker Louna Ribadeira on loan for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.

Ribadeira was recently recalled from her loan spell with Division 1 Feminine side Paris FC as Chelsea became increasingly concerned about her lack of playing time. Having played just two games for the French club since appearing in August 2024, the west London side have found a new home for Ribadeira with Women’s Super League (WSL) opponents Everton.

The 20-year-old is Brian Sorensen’s fifth signing of the January transfer window, following the signings of Kelly Gago, Martina Fernandez, Hayley Ladd and Emma Watson.

The striker arrives on Merseyside as a proven talent, having taken home the Division 1 Female Young Player of the Year award for her time with Paris FC in the 2023/24 season.

With Aurora Galli and Inma Gabarro suffering cruciate ligament injuries in the first weeks of the 2024/25 season, Sorensen used this winter window to strengthen his attack. The Danish head coach described Ribadeira as “an outstanding talent” and added: “I’m sure she will fit in well with us and settle in well in the WSL.”

The 20-year-old has ambitions of her own and is confident her time at Everton will help her achieve her goal of being “a great striker in the world”.

“I work every day to become the best striker in the world. Paris FC is my first club. “I think it’s important to know other leagues and championships,” the striker told Everton FC. “When I go on the court it’s to play, to have fun and I like the fight.”

Everton’s latest signings will have the chance to showcase their talents this weekend as the WSL returns for Gameweek 11. The Toffees host Aston Villa at Walton Hall Park with a golden chance to secure 7th place in the league standings.
