Leicester vs Fulham: Preview, predictions and lineups

Leicester City will look to end their six-game losing streak in the Premier League on Saturday when they host Fulham at the King Power Stadium.

The Foxes suffered another dismal defeat against Crystal Palace on Wednesday night, with their profligacy punished by their experienced opponents. The pressure is already mounting on new coach Ruud van Nistelrooy, who managed just one Premier League win after a fortunate 3-1 win over West Ham United on his debut.

Fulham could well plunge Leicester further into crisis on Saturday, despite suffering their first defeat since the end of November in their game against West Ham on Tuesday. Alex Iwobi’s brace failed to earn the Cottagers a point as they suffered a 3-2 defeat in Graham Potter’s first league game as Irons coach.

Here is 90 minutes Guide to Leicester vs Fulham.

Leicester had a poor squad at the start of the season and injuries have only compounded the problems. Abdul Fatawu’s season-ending ACL tear left them lacking creativity, while the absence of the influential Mads Hermansen between the sticks proved costly.

The goalkeeper is still missing on Saturday and Jakub Stolarczyk will continue to guard the goal. Wilfred Ndidi is unavailable in midfield and Ricardo Pereira is missing at right-back, both players who could add real quality to the Leicester team.

Predicted line-up for Leicester vs Fulham (4-2-3-1): Stolarczyk; Justin, Faes, Vestergaard, Kristiansen; Soumare, Winks; Buonanotte, El Khannous, Mavididi; Vardy.

Fulham could welcome Sander Berge back to their squad for Saturday’s trip to the East Midlands, with the midfielder missing since Christmas with an ankle injury. He could appear in some capacity at King Power.

However, Reiss Nelson will not be part of the traveling group. He remains out of action with a hamstring injury and will be joined in the treatment room by Kenny Tete, with the latter not expected to return until the end of March at the earliest. This means that Timothy Castagne will play at right-back against his former team.

Predicted line-up for Fulham vs Leicester (4-2-3-1): Leno; Castagne, Andersen, Bassey, Robinson; Lukic, Pereira; Wilson, Smith Rowe, Iwobi; Jimenez.

Leicester did create chances against Palace during the week but lacked the ruthlessness to take them. Despite boasting an xG of 1.7, they drew a gap and their struggles in the final third have been a consistent problem this season.

The Foxes are also suspect defensively, having conceded two or more goals in eleven of their last twelve games. Fulham are not the division’s top scorers, but they fancy their chances of manning Leicester’s backline more than once.

Prediction: Leicester 1-2 Fulham
