Liverpool star risks backlash after Eden Hazard & Mohamed Salah comparison

Curtis Jones has risked angering Liverpool fans by claiming former Chelsea star Eden Hazard is a better footballer than his current teammate Mohamed Salah.

Salah is having one of the greatest seasons of all time, putting up incredible numbers as Liverpool sit top of both the Premier League and Champions League.

But Jones admitted he grew up watching Hazard and enjoyed watching the Belgian more, although he also admitted Salah is the player he would still rather have in his own team.

“I know we compare him to Mo all the time, and I’ve looked into Mo. I play it from the one I saw as a child when I loved the game and wanted to be like a gamer. I feel like it,” was Hazard. Every game I would watch him… “Wow, this is football.”

“I wouldn’t say he’s disrespected, but he hasn’t had certain conversations that he should have had,” the Liverpool native then said of Hazard, referring to the disappointing early end to his career after a disastrous one Record transfer to Real Madrid.

“It’s a conversation I had with Mo and all the guys. Is he better as a footballer than Mo? In my opinion, yes. But who would you rather have on your team? They’ll say Mo because he gets you your goals and assists.”

When Ferdinand made it clear he would rather watch Hazard but put Salah in a team to win games, Jones agreed: “Yeah, exactly, sure, it’s that simple.”

Despite this clarification, Jones was criticized by Liverpool fans on social media for saying so positively about someone else when compared directly to his own colleague. The 23-year-old continued posting X himself, underlining the statement that he would still prefer to play with Salah.

Alongside a picture of Salah, he wrote: “The one I’d rather have in my team.”
