The star-studded one EA FC 25 The Team of the Year was announced. 27 nominated midfielders were reduced to just three who made it to the final selection.
Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham was a standout candidate given his performances with the Spanish and European champions, while Rodri was always a contender after his 2024 Ballon d’Or triumph. Remarkably, Cole Palmer spent most of the year carrying Chelsea on his back.
Jude Bellingham couldn’t have imagined a better year. After seamlessly transitioning into life at Real Madrid, he won both La Liga and the Champions League in a matter of weeks at the end of last season and finished the season with a career-best 23 goals in all competitions.
In the summer, his overhead kick goal in stoppage time against Slovakia saved England from an early exit from the 2024 European Championship and was the trigger for the Three Lions to reach the final for the second time in a row.
Rodri was sidelined for 2024 with a cruciate ligament injury and received his Ballon d’Or trophy on crutches in October. If nothing else, it showed how important he was to Manchester City’s success, as the team’s form plummeted without him.
The Spaniard was instrumental in City winning an unprecedented fourth successive English league title, while we were also the linchpin of Spain’s triumph at Euro 2024.
Not only has Cole Palmer become one of the best players in the world since joining Chelsea at the start of last season, he has also been an influential force off the pitch, with his no-nonsense interviews ensuring the attacking midfielder has started talking about his sport to go out.
There were no trophies for Palmer in 2024, but it’s unbearable to think about where Chelsea would be without him, while his individual accolades tell their own story.
