Player ratings as 10-man Gunners claim hard-fought win

Arsenal secured a big three points away from home in the Premier League as they beat Wolves 1-0 at Molineux on Saturday afternoon.

After Liverpool beat an Ipswich Town side 6-0 at home last weekend, it seemed like Arsenal’s main task on Saturday would be to match the league leaders’ result.

However, the Gunners did not have their own way at Molineux, with Wolves looking to overturn their recent slump in form. The hosts competed fiercely in the opening exchanges and created the first big opening, but Pablo Sarabia released his volley over from an excellent Nelson Semedo cross.

Arsenal were at their most dangerous when Wolves had the ball, with Voreira’s side aiming to switch possession in the build-up phase. Leandro Trossard pulled Kai Havertz up twice with pinpoint deliveries, but the German somehow couldn’t find the back of the net with either rising effort.

The first half was settled and the contest turned just before half-time when Michael Oliver sent off Myles Lewis-Skelly for a cynical and dangerous challenge on Matt Doherty.

Arsenal were undeterred despite their man and had their brightest contest at the start of the second half. Gabriel, Declan Rice and Havertz (again) came close to breaking the deadlock before Matheus Cunha missed an opportunity at the other end.

Joao Gomes’ ill-advised challenge on Jurrien Timber, booked in the first half, led to his dismissal and Arsenal wasted no time in taking advantage.

The visitors then had no trouble figuring out the game, although Rayan Ait-Nouri could have done better when he found himself behind Arsenal’s defense but shot straight at David Raya.
