However, it remains to be hoped that Liverpool Van Dijk can bind to fresh terms after his agents were seen alongside Reds Sporting Director Richard Hughes a week to see how Liverpool progresses at Tottenham’s expense to the Carabao Cup final.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed the meeting between Hughes and van Dijk’s agents, but warned the followers that there is still no agreement on an extension.
“It is true that the agents of Virgil van Dijk were sitting for the game against Tottenham alongside the football director in Liverpool, Richard Hughes,” he said. “There is still a very good conversation, a very good relationship between Liverpool and the agents of Virgil van Dijk.
“The decision has not been made at the moment. But the conversations continue.”
