Barcelona ‘offered’ Joao Felix deal in January

Barcelona is said to have rejected the chance to sign Joao Felix in the last phases of January transfer Window.

Felix was made available by Chelsea just a few months after a permanent transfer of 45 million GBP after an earlier loan in 2023 to the Stamford Bridge.

The Portuguese international failed to master more than sporadic minutes under Enzo Maresca, and finally walked to the loan to AC Milan to remove it from the bloated blues squad.

But it was not just Milan to offer a deal. Spanish publication SPORT writes that Barcelona was presented with the option, apparently Felix’s first choice after borrowing the catalans last season.

This meant that Agent Jorge Mendes contacted the sports director Deco and President Joan Laporta to be rejected by the Barcelona officials.

Barca was on the market to increase the squad, but it is said that someone who was able to act both as a striker and as a wing player was intention. For this reason, Marcus Rashford was identified as the goal before the financial caution ultimately killed the opportunity to meet a deal.

It is said that Barca coach Hansi Flick would have been happy if Felix joined last summer or in January, even though it was never considered a priority for the club.

Of course, there is the possibility that Felix could become a Barcelona player again in the future. His loan at Milan only runs until the end of the season and does not include any pre -arranged option for sale. Therefore, a future offer must be negotiated from scratch.

Felix started his Milan spell with a Coppa Italia goal from the bank against Roma last week before he started his debut in Serie A on Saturday.
