The trainer of Real Madrid Carlo Ancelotti has raised the lid on why the experienced central defender Jesus Vallejo hardly had a sniffing time this season.
Madrid continues to have an almighty injury crisis in the defense center, with Eder Militao with a second ACL list of victims.
Before this season, the European champions saw the top destination that Leny Yoro joined Manchester United, while Nacho Fernandez traveled to Saudi Arabia in his career in a lucrative golden sunset.
The central midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni has often filled out as an emergency deputy, while Raul Ascio and Jacobo Ramon were quickly followed to the senior squad.
Despite this upheaval, Vallejo has not yet taken a look at it. The 28-year-old, who originally accompanied himself to Madrid in 2015, would have hoped for an extended chance in the middle of the various absences. Apart from ten minutes against Alaves in September, the central defender was over an unused replacement throughout the season.
With Madrid, when he is supposed to face Manchester City without a central defender of the first team and Vallejo to stay on the bench, Ancelotti fought that there is a problem.
“With Vallejo there is absolutely nothing going on, the problem is that his contract ends and that we prefer to give the young players minutes,” said the Italian coach.
But even as a specialized central defender, there is little in Vallejo’s career history that he is ready to start Madrid. The 28-year-old tried to command a place at Wolverhampton Wanderers during a loan in 2019/20 and spent two and a half years of the last five in Granada.
