Enzo Maresca offers damning assessment of Chelsea’s defeat to Brighton

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has confessed that the defeat of his team against Brighton & Hove Albion was the poorest performance he has seen since moving to Stamford Bridge.

The blues could not take up a single shot on the goal when Kaoru, with anoma and Yankuba Minth Chelsea, presented their second defeat to the seagulls within a week after they were unloaded last weekend by their latest competitors from the Fa Cup.

“I’m sorry for the fans,” said Maresca Sky Sport After the final whistle. “It is not the right performance that we can offer, especially at this moment in the season. We have to stick together.

“I always feel pressure. The performance has been the worst since I arrived.”

When Chelsea fans again sang the name of the former owner Roman Abramovich, Maresca admitted that he understood why the supporters were so frustrated in all competitions after a fifth defeat in their last ten games.

“In this result, frustration is about everything,” he said. “Certainly we are really sorry for the fans who come here, and the moment we are in the position in which we are in ourselves, we have to do much better than what we have done.

“I think with regard to the control of the game or the storage of the ball we did [striker] Who can be a threat that we need to find different solutions? It’s not just about opportunities.

“There are many things that we have to do better. We still have a lot of games and we are still in a good position. We have to do our best and try to end the best way.

“We are at a moment when we have the feeling that we can easily admit and have problems to score. I think they had no chances before the finish. There are many things that we can do better.”
