Man Utd forced to name eight teenagers on bench for Tottenham clash

The head coach of Manchester United, Ruben Amorim, was named on Sunday afternoon eight teenagers were named on his replacement bench for the club’s meeting with Tottenham Hotspur.

Amad Diallo will miss the rest of the season with an ankle problem and join Lisandro Martinez in a crowded treatment, which Luke Shaw, Jonny Evans and Mason Mount also contains. Leny Yoro and Christians Eriksen were two more surprise abrasives who dived before the kick -off.

This countless consequence of events forced Amorim to turn to the youth. Victor Lindelof (30) was the only player who was older than 19 years old on the bench for the trip to Spurs.

Harry Amass, midfielder Jack Fletcher and record striker Chido Obi represent the three 17-year-olds. Goalkeeper Ely Harrison and Winter Ayden Heaven are both 18 years old, while a trio from 19-year-old-tyler Fredricson, Jack Moorhouse and Sekou Kons-Die Embryonale Bank have completed. Six of the substitutes were born after the Glazer Manchester United bought.

“We have children with less responsibility, less weight on their shoulders,” said Amorim before the game and positively put the chronic inexperience with which he was left. “They are good players. If necessary, we will make the children play and maybe we will find good things at that moment.”

Amorim added: “We never know. This is the beauty of football. So we have young children, perhaps with less responsibility, less weight on their shoulders and they are there.

“You practice. You are good players.”
