Arsenal handed huge fine over Myles Lewis-Skelly red card protests

Arsenal was made with a huge fine of £ 65,000 because she did not control her players after Myles Lewis-Skelly’s controversial dismissal in the last month.

Lewis-Skelly was shown a just red card shortly before the half-time break for what was classified as a “serious foul” when he intentionally stumbled Matt Doherty at the beginning of a potential switch. The young left -back expected a yellow card, but was shown as red because he caught Doherty high above his ankle.

The Arsenal squad was immediately angry with the decision and up to nine players surrounded the referee Michael Oliver – an action in which they were charged with misconduct, although the red card was ultimately lifted.

“An independent regulatory committee has imposed a fine of 65,000 pounds on Saturday, January 25th on Saturday, January 25th,” said in a explanation of the Football Association.

“It was said that Arsenal had not ensured that its players did not behave inappropriately in the 43rd minute, and the club later admitted to this charge.”

The fine is more than three times higher than the typical sanction of 20,000 GBP, which goes hand in hand with a violation of this rule and is particularly serious due to a series of factors, including the number of players that surround Oliver, and the duration of their protests.

Working against arsenal was also the fact that this was their sixth violation of the rule since the beginning of 2022, the first five of which were between January this year and February 2023. The calendar year helped Arsenal to avoid a larger fine.
