Arsenal and Manchester United Robin Van Persie’s former striker was appointed head coach in the First Professional Club Feyenoord.
Van Persie’s relationship with Feyenoord extends until 1999 when he joined the club’s youth after he released Excelsior with the coaching staff on the other Rotterdam page.
He made 78 appearances of the first team before a transfer from 2004 to Arsenal and then ended his career as a game career at De Kuip after magic sayings in Manchester United and Fenerbahce.
Van Persie moves with the immediate effect of Heerenveen with Eredivisie page to replace released former boss Brian Priske. His contract lasts until the end of the 2026/27 season.
“Everyone knows how special my bond is too Feyenoord,” said Van Persie. “I look forward to the front, together with a strong staff with the cooperation with the Player Group 1908 and then in de Kuip, supported by Legion, games and joint success.”
Van Persie’s staff belong to the assistant coach Rene Hake, who was part of Erik Ten Hag’s Backroom Team in Manchester United until the beginning of November.
The 41-year-old began his coaching career at Feyenoord as a occasional assistant at coaching legend Dick Advocaat as soon as he laying on his boots. A year later, this became a more formal role that worked with the first team and leading younger age groups.
Heerenveen dared to jump and passed Van Persie his first senior appearance last summer, with Feyenoord brought him back ‘home’ less than a year later.
