Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim defended Patrick Dorgu after his dangerous red card in The 3-2 victory on Wednesday via Ipswich Town.
It was an eventful first half for Dorgu, who was guilty of giving Ipswich an open goal just four minutes after the start of the competition as a confusion with goalkeeper Andre Onana Jaden to tap his team.
Amorim argued that it was Doru’s wish to pay his mistake, which saw him catching him with a high challenge for half of the half of the half.
“Everyone if they watch this ball thought ‘here, we’re going again,” said Amorim about the opening goal. “But then football is sometimes like that and we managed to combat all situations during the game and to believe that we really deserve the three points.
“The first situation was a misunderstanding, the way they combine [with] each other. Then the important thing is that I know Dorgu really well. He doesn’t want to harm anyone and that is important to me.
“Then they have this situation. He had this mistake and then they have the feeling that he did many runs, tried to win every ball, to be aggressive, and sometimes they overdo it and he has these problems today.”
The international manager of Dorgu, Brian Riemer, worked as an expert in the game and offered his sympathy for the first goal.
“I feel for the boy,” said the Denmark boss. “Everyone knows that it is not nice to be in such a situation.
“But the coaching page of the table is worse if tactical decisions and individual skills are not good enough.
“From a coaching point of view, I can assure him by saying that it is a real misunderstanding. It is a communication error at a certain level, and of course it shouldn’t happen, but I think all defenders have experienced it.”
