Ruben Amorim reveals Alejandro Garnacho punishment for tunnel storm-off

Ruben Amorim has announced that the punishment of Alejandro Garnacho will be preserved after being stormed directly through the tunnel during the 3-2 victory by Manchester United against Ipswich Town.

The Argentine striker was replaced by Amorim by half -time in response to Patrick Dorgu’s Straight Red Card for serious foul.

Amorim’s decision, Garnacho instead of Rasmus Hojlund or Joshua Zirkzee, seemed to be annoyed by the 20-year-old when he stormed the touch and stormed down the tunnel before half was over.

In his media conference in front of the Fac Cup Fifth Runde on Sunday with Fulham, Amorim has now announced what Garnacho, who looked light on the last excursions and created a number of good openings, will do to compensate for his indiscretion.

“He came to me to my office,” said United’s head coach. “I carried out some examinations. He [Garnacho] Go to the changing room, watched the game and then went home. It’s not a problem, but I told him that everything is a problem with Manchester United. Perception is important in this club, perception is important.

“He will pay for the whole team for dinner. That’s it.”

Former United Manager Erik Ten HAG was at the beginning of the week the inability of modern players to deal with criticism, and the question was asked whether Garnacho’s reaction was a reflection of this mentality.

“He is a young child who will learn,” said Amorim. “The most important thing is that he spoke to me the next morning. We have to understand the situation, the context, the age of the players. You have to be better and understand that perception is really important here, but as I said, you can handle and continue with it the next day. So let’s go on.”

“I think it is completely different for players now,” he continued, referring to the role of social media in society. “Before it was just newspapers and nothing more. It is completely different with social media. You cannot appear on social media without news or a photo or if you read something bad, concentrate on it. You can have 100 good things, but you will concentrate on it.

“I think it’s really difficult for you. You can call it soft, but you have access to criticism with which it is difficult to manage. You need help to deal with it. It is modern football and you have to be prepared for it.”
