Bundesliga cult hero celebrated with hummel Legend Jersey

Diego is a name that still likes to remind you in German football.

The Brazilian playmaker took over the Bundesliga when he arrived in Werder Bremen from Porto at the age of 21 in summer 2006.

At home he was trained in the same Santos Academy, which Pele had produced, and would soon also have an effect on Neymar. A natural first stop in Europe was Portugal, but it was Germany in which Diego found his home from home.

This first season at Bremen was breathtaking. The club was unable to repeat its Bundesliga title in 2003/04, but Diego was not playable and scored 27 goals and templates in 33 league appearances.

Diego was appointed player of the 2006/07 season by Germany’s Player ‘Union in 2006/07.

His long -term strike of more than 60 meters against Aachen also won Germany’s goal of the year in 2007. After two years of absence, he was even back to the Brazilian squad and was part of a victorious Copa America squad for the second time in his career.

To celebrate his career and this monumental campaign with Bremen, Cult Kit Brand Hummel introduced a new legend jersey and created a shirt inspired by the threads of the 2006/07 club.

The green and white Halved shirt bears the name of Diego and number ten on the back with Bremen’s Famous Diamond Crest in the middle. The Hummel logo sits on the right and an inscription that pays tribute to the Brazilian Maestro appears on the left.

“Diego’s impact on Werder Bremen is timeless and we are happy to celebrate his legacy with this special jersey,” said Morten Lund, marketing director of Hummel.

“Inspired by his first season in the club, the design reflects the unforgettable moments that he gave the fans – moments of brilliance, creativity and passion. It is a privilege to be part of this historical farewell party, and we are proud to work with Werder Bremen to give the fans a permanent tribute for the biggest player in the club.”

Now 40 and retired, Diego remained near Bremen until 2009, when Juventus paid a lot of money to bring him to Serie A, but he returned to the Bundesliga and spent four years in Wolfsburg. He later fell out for Atletico Madrid and Fenerbahce before packing his career in Flamengo at the age of six.
