Real Madrid Manager Carlo Ancelotti confirmed his appreciation for Kylian Mbappe in view of the French criticism in the 2-1 victory on Sunday against Rayo Vallecano.
At the beginning of this month it was reported that Madrid’s officials grew “increasingly worried” by a small slump in the Frenchman after a small dental problem on the fitness of Mbappe had demanded its tribute.
While Mbappe’s overwhelming form was not isolated on the field, Mbappes triggered memories of his fights at the beginning of this season, and these concerns were audible on Sunday by some in Santiago Bernabeu, even though he scored a 2-1 win against Rayo.
Ancelotti replaced Mbappe late in the game and was accused that he was also unimpressed by the overall performance of the striker, but the Madrid boss made no secret of his continued support of the 26-year-old when he explained the reason for his tactical tweak.
“The goal is something that I think is important,” said Ancelotti. “Vinicius [Junior] And Mbappe scored two spectacular goals and they did it very well until the 70th minute.
“They had the chance to make it 3-1, and 70 minutes they did it very well. But when I think it is time to defend the strikers. And I have no problem with it from him how it happened at Rodrygo, and the rest will be good for him for Wednesday.
“I think he played very well for an hour. He scored a spectacular goal, fought, fought, fought and followed back to get the ball … The goal came from the fact that he went down and then went on the ball and did a run without the ball. He did it very well.”
Ancelotti also laughed about inflamed concerns about potential fit problems with Mbappe, Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo.
“I don’t know that I don’t see this ‘individualism’,” he emphasized.
“The first goal was a pass from Vinicius to Mbappe, and the second spectacular individuality of Vinicius. [the Champions League last 16 second leg against Atletico Madrid] is very high. For all. “
