Man Utd confirm £2bn plans to build biggest stadium in UK

Manchester United has confirmed her plans for the construction of a new stadium with 100,000 capacities near her current budget in Old Trafford.

Architects at Foster and Partners indicate that the new stadium and the surrounding complex have a roof design and a new public square, which is “twice the size of the Trafalgar Square”, according to the government’s growth agenda and the regeneration plans for the region.

United says that the project has the potential to deliver an additional 7.3 billion GBP to the United Kingdom’s economy, to create almost 100,000 new jobs and to drive another 1.8 million visitors to the area every year. It is believed that the construction in the region could cost 2 billion GBP – a significant amount of money, not at least because the Red Devils are currently almost 1 billion GBP in debt.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe said in a club declaration: “Today, the beginning of an incredibly exciting journey to deliver the world’s largest football stadium marks the focus of an regenerated old Trafford.

“Our current stadium has served us brilliantly in the past 115 years, but it has fallen behind the best arenas in the world sport. By building next to the existing location, we can maintain the essence of Old Trafford, while we create a really state -of -the -art stadium that changes fan experience, only foot strains from our historical home.

“It is also important that a new stadium of the catalyst for the social and economic renewal of the area is Old Trafford and is not only completed during the construction phase, but on a permanent basis of the stadium district. The government has identified infrastructure investment as a strategic priority, especially in the north of England.

The managing director of United, Omar Berrada, added: “Our long -term goal as a club is to play the world’s best football team in the world’s best stadium in the world. We are grateful for the feasibility work that the Task Force of Old Trafford regeneration has done for the future of the old trading program.

“We have carefully taken into account his results, along with the views of thousands of fans and residents and the conclusion that a new stadium is the right way for Manchester United and our surrounding community. We will now enter another consultation to ensure that fans and residents will continue to be listed if we move on the final decisions.”
