The head coach of Manchester United, Ruben Amorim, asked his players to change the perception of them by co -owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe after criticism this week.
United has been on course for the worst season of the club since the descent from the top flight in 1974 and Council cliffs aimed at a round of media interviews this week on the sub -performance of players.
“It takes time for us to move from the past to a new place in the future,” said Ratcliffe. “Some are not good enough and others are probably overpaid, but so that we will take time for the squad for which we are fully responsible and for which we are responsible. We have this time of transformation in which we switch from the past to the future.”
The billionaire made these comments immediately after making Antony, Casemiro, Andre Onana, Rasmus Hojlund and Jadon Sancho expressly named and shocked the fans with his bluntness.
Casemiro, Onana and Hojlund remain part of the current squad, with Antony and Sancho being loaned.
“Whether we like it or not, we have inherited these things and have to sort it out,” he said.
The words of ratcliffe were not surprisingly at Amorim when he was confronted against journalists at a press conference before the conflict with real sociedad this week.
“I think if we are honest, everyone is – me, all players – below average. So we can always change that. I join this part of the sub -performance,” replied Amorim.
“You speak of players like Casemiro, for example, who have won everything and we know that this kind of players can play so much better. So the focus is on this. [Ratcliffe] Was honest. The focus is on changing his opinion and changing all people. “
“If you are a top player and play in this football club, and even me – many people say I am not good enough for the club – and I have the feeling that you can change this with results. In training, I have the feeling that you want it really badly, especially [against Real Sociedad]. “
Ratcliffes interviews also included the parts of his admiration for Amorim, which undoubtedly inherited a difficult situation since she left the Sporting CP for United in November.
The Portuguese admitted that his relationship with the club boss has been “really good” since the first day.
He explained: “I think we are really dull and honest with each other. It is a bit the character. We are quite similar in this way, so I always felt the support of the board and especially Sir Jim. I cannot tell you the conversations, but you are simple, clear and honest conversations.”
