Marc Skinner shares an update on Man Utd contract extension talks

Marc Skinner expressed his wish to stay as head coach of Manchester United when his contract is approaching his process this summer.

The 41-year-old concluded a new one-year contract with the club in May 2024, which included the option for another year. United has to trigger the extension clause until the end of this month to take over the contract to 2026, but beyond this period a new contract with Skinner can negotiate this period.

“It is a conversation that lasts and you have to inform me by the end of the month whether it is an option or whether it is a contract discussion,” said Skinner.

“I would like to stay because I have the feeling that there are unfinished business.”

“I really want to take this club and this team with me. We have designed and built a young team, and I have the feeling that it has the imprint, the DNA of a really famous team from Manchester United.

“I think you have seen this from last year, it has changed in a completely positive direction where it is about driving this club forward. With all the things that are thrown on us, we will be able to ensure that we direct it as we want. So I want to stay and make sure that we can achieve the success. I think this club can.”

After the dismissal of Manchester City boss Gareth Taylor, Skinner is today the longest-serving manager in the Super League of women (WSL), who has run United since July 2021.

United is currently second place in the WSL classification, eight points from Leaders Chelsea, a game in his hand and still the reigning master at home before the end of the season. The Red Devils have not lost a game in November since a narrow 1-0 defeat against Chelsea and are looking for a eighth victory in a row in a row if they travel to Liverpool on Friday evening.

After a turbulent start to the 2024/25 campaign, Skinner believes that the increase in form is due to a change in the mind in the changing room.

“I think there is a bit of this spirit again. It was always the same kind of spirit, but it feels [the same as] Two years ago, tried to push for this title, “admitted the United leader.

“I think we have just got used to each other from the beginning of the season. I think this experience helped us bring these games over the line, and this experience to achieve these difficult results.”

The head coach considered his term at United and announced that he had learned to adapt to the pressure that goes hand in hand with the job.

“I think every day I learn a lot about dealing with pressure that I am under pressure, how I have to lead under this pressure, how I try not to bring them pressure to the people I work with. This prints can be good and bad, but we don’t have to switch to bad pressure,” said Skinner.

“You know that there is also a good pressure to be Manchester United Manager. So it is constantly seeing what you are examined when there is really no whole story. I think that can be a challenge with which I had to learn to deal with, but in reality it tries to stay human while I can change in a job and to be able to adapt as a person.”
