Bruno Fernandes bites back at Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s ‘overpaid’ Man Utd squad jibe

Bruno Fernandes admitted that it was difficult to hear Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who describe some players in the squad as “overpaid” and “not well enough”.

Ratcliffe was surprisingly transparent in a recent media appearances and did not hide his disappointment about the current composition of the United squad, with dismissing his frustration compared to impending payments for players such as Antony, Casemiro, Jadon Sancho, Rasmus Hojlund and Andre Onana.

It can not question a value of Fernandes, the hat trick of which inspired a 4-1 win against Real Sociedad on Thursday and took over his individual record for the season to 15 goals and 13 templates in all competitions.

After the game, Fernandes took the opportunity to give the criticism of Ratcliffe disappointed.

“We can’t relax in this club,” he started. “You know that there is a big standard, a great attention that you get from the media from everywhere.

“It is obviously not nice to hear certain things. I don’t think a player likes to hear criticism or things that are talked about that they are not good enough or overpaid or whatever.

“Everyone has their own contract. The club is ready to deal with the contracts at the time they come here, or at the time when they conclude a new contract or whatever, and it is about being able to be important for the club.”

Head coach Amorim asked his United squad to improve the comments from Ratcliffe as a fuel to improve, and on Thursday he will be enthusiastic about the results as a emphatic victory over La Real to advance the Red Devils to the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
