Bruno Fernandes fires back at scathing Roy Keane criticism

Bruno Fernandes has repeated Roy Keanes repeated criticism of his character and admitted that he spurred him on to make his doubters wrong.

Keane has rarely held away from expressing his frustrations towards Fernand, which he insisted that the captain of Manchester United recently argued that the Portuguese international does not have the character to bring his team out of their slump this season.

Head coach Ruben Amorim publicly defended Fernandes and after another outstanding performance in the 3-0 victory on Sunday against Leicester City, the 30-year-old took the opportunity to trace back in Keane.

When asked whether public criticism violates it or motivated in a conversation that Keane did not name directly at first, said Fernandes, Fernandes said Sky Sport: “I think both. Obviously it is not nice to hear bad things about you; nobody likes it.

“But at the same time it motivates them and lets them think about many things that people believe they have to improve, and they have to take it positively and understand that everything that people say, and if there is a lead to improve or not.

“Obviously I know that they talk about Roy Keane. As I said, I have a great respect for Roy Keane. I think he is one of the best captains that the club had and he was a great player for the club.

“It is the way he thinks the idea he has about me as a player as a captain, and I have to respect that. I do things in my own way to try to be the best, not a person, but person and teammate as possible.

“I do it every day and try to be an example of everything I do in a training session, on the field and in everything I do [it]Not everyone will think in the same way, and I respect everyone.

“And as I said, I have great respect for Roy Keane and I accept that many margins for improvements in my game, in my leadership, in everything I do, has improved even in my own life.”

Fernandes’ goal against Leicester scored up to 31 goals in all competitions this season (16 goals, 15 templates). Only Mohamed Salah (54) and Erling Haaland (33) did more when it comes to Premier League player.

“I want to score as many goals as I can because it is a large part of my game and I have to help my teammates,” he added. “I have to rise and achieve goals on the edge of the box because it is one of my qualities.”
