Manchester City may have reduced further points from the Premier League at the weekend and pulled 2-2 with Brighton & Hove Albion to ensure that their remaining focus was simply qualified for the Champions League-a historical fifth title in a row is long over.
But Erling Haaland reached a large milestone in 11 minutes after the game at the Etihad Stadium. The Norwegian converted an early punishment to give the city a guided tour that she soon revealed.
For Haaland it was his 84th Premier League goal and in combination with 16 templates his 100th goal participation in the competition after his arrival 2022.
This milestone was achieved in just 94 games, which is a record for very few to get there and defeated a variety of legends of goalkeepers.
The previous record for 100 goal participation by Alan Shearer, whose 79 goals and 21 templates for Blackburn Rovers were in 100 games in the early years of the Premier League.
Eric Cantona achieved the participation of 100 goals for Leeds United and Manchester United in 116 games, the same number as the current Liverpool star Mohamed Salah. Sergio Aguero from Manchester City Icon needed 118 games and the Arsenal hero Thierry Henry reached the century in 121.
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Les Ferdinand and Andrew Cole are the top ten on the list of few games on 100 Premier League goal.
Haaland is the player in the top ten with the highest proportion of goals within his 100 participation with 84% that he has achieved instead of remembering others – a memory of why he is seen as one of the best strikers in the world. In the meantime, Cantona was not far from a 50/50 splitting of the first 100, scored 58 and assisted 42.
The next milestone for Haaland are 100 goals in the Premier League, which is now 16. Only a really blisterful finish this season would bring him there before the end of the campaign, but it will probably come in early 2025/26 and also win another record for speed.
Shearer remains the fastest in the competition to the net net and reached this milestone brand in 1995 after 124 Premier League appearances. In view of the rate with which he scored the first 84 points, Haaland will soon destroy this brand.
