Thomas Tuchel admitted that England had no real threat in his 2-0 win at Wembley in wide areas against Albania and that they have to “make themselves better”.
The German term of office began with a comfortable victory, which was scored by the goals of debutants Myles Lewis-Skelly and captain Harry Kane, who rotated on a six pine to fire a great effort into the lower corner.
But instead of praising England for winning a game, they were overwhelming favorites to score three points, and Tuchel concentrated on improvement areas for the future – a potential sign of how the former head of Chelsea and Bayern Munich could deal in a completely different way in order to be able to do the media obligations in order to be able to make Gareth Southgate.
“We can do it better, we have to do it better,” said Tuchel ITV Sport. “We started well, we had seven or eight minutes with 100% possession with many passes and high energy.
“The opponent is difficult to collapse when he defends himself in a deep block. In the euro [last year] They managed not to admit any chances. In the second half I had the feeling that we were too slow and in general there is not enough off the ball to stand behind the line. “
“Our two wingers started were not as effective as possible or as they are in club football,” added Tuchel, especially after the lack of threat, both from Phil Foden and Marcus Rashford.
“At the moment I’m not so sure why we tried to bring the ball faster to bring the ball more [of an] Open position for you, I have to check the match.
“We were missing a little run from the ball, so it was a little too much over and not enough dribble. Not aggressive enough opposite the goal. They have been very good in their clubs in the past few weeks. We will always encourage them and give them a structure so that they can show their potential.”
Foden had a total of 52 touches of the ball, but only two of them came in Albania’s penalty area. The attacking midfielder with a fleet foot tried only one dribble in his 74 minutes on the field and produced an expected XG and XA (expected goals and templates) of 0.13.
In the first half, Rashford tried to Backline in the first half and touched the ball three times as half a dozen times in the penalty area. The On-Loan Aston Villa striker was also much more ready to run with the ball, and completed three out of five attempted dribble on the way to a performance that resulted in an expected XG and XA of 0.65.
