The Real Madrid striker Endrick has confessed that he fears that he would lose his place in the Brazilian national team if he no longer sees minutes at the club level.
Last summer, the 18-year-old Endrick last summer fought for opportunities in a forward line, which includes undisputed superstars Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo. While the striker made 28 appearances in all competitions, he has only seen 496 minutes of action since the beginning of the season.
While he previously insisted that he enjoys the chance to learn from the best and understand the struggle with which he is confronted with, Endrick has now revealed his fear that he could lose his place at the 2026 World Championship due to his lack of minutes.
“To tell you the truth, what goes through my head a lot is that I am afraid that I will not be in the World Cup” Romario TV.
“You [Romario] I also went through it, my father even told me that you were hoping and didn’t get a call [in 1998]. So I’m afraid. Because it’s a dream of mine. It is difficult to say because I would be at the World Cup and want to help Brazil to win his sixth title.
“Of course it is difficult to be with the biggest players in the largest club in the world, and you cannot always have the opportunity to play.
“But whenever I play, I would like to be able to be a bit of myself in the national team. I hope that I can be in the national team next year and if God wants it, we will win the World Cup.”
The Brazilian manager Dorival Junior has announced since then that he spoke to Madrid in the counterpart Carlo Ancelotti about Endrick’s role and ongoing development.
“Endrick became and monitored very precisely,” said Dorival.
“On this last trip [to Europe]I had a conversation with Ancelotti for about two and a half hours. We talked about many topics, but mainly about the moment when the endrick is going through.
“He developed a lot compared to what we knew a year ago. Working in Palmeiras was very well done and achieved, and Endrick is now much more mature. That is of course. I think this happened in Europe in a year. If he had stayed here, he would have developed a little differently.”
