Virgil van Dijk teases Liverpool supporters with four-word contract update

Virgil van Dijk has confirmed that in his conversations with Liverpool, progress was made through a new contract.

The Dutch is one of three top-class stars who approach the end of their contracts in Angeld in addition to the striker Mohamed Salah and right-back Trento Alexander-Arnold.

Liverpool should be confident to agree with van Dijk and Salah, and that the optimism was driven by the public entry of the central defender that things move in the right direction.

“There is progress, yes,” revealed van Dijk.

When asked whether this means that he will stay at Liverpool this season, van Dijk added: “I don’t know we will see.”

Van Dijk has rarely gave so much insight into his negotiations and, if he was pushed further to explain what progress was made, refused to give away anything.

“Listen, these are internal discussions and we will see,” he continued.

“I love the club, I love the fans and they were back for us [against Fulham]. We wanted to reward them, but I ask you to be there again on Sunday and make the stadium an amazing place for us as always. “

The fans hope for a similar update from Salah, who openly spoke of his frustrations about the lack of progress in the negotiations. Officials from Saudi Arabia are said to be confident that they will remain a free transfer with the signing of the wing player, although Salah’s preference is still an extension with Liverpool.
