Manchester United will be without Joshua Zirkzee for the most important quarter -finals of the Europa League against Lyon in Old Trafford without Joshua Circle.
Zirkzee started the humiliating Premier League defeat against Newcastle United on Sunday, but was forced by injury after only 55 minutes.
The Dutch was in the line -up to Rasmus Hojlund, who now offers the only striker of the squad for the next game and possibly a few more, a break.
“Josh, I think he will be outside for some games,” said Ruben Amorim Mut.
Zirkzee has not been able to consistently impress on the opening day of the Premier League season since a debut goal since a debut goal. A handful of promising performance than one of Split No. 10 in Amorims 3-4-2-1 system indicates that there is a role for him, but a lack of depth in advance has recorded more of his latest excursions in No. 9 position.
The 23-year-old scored seven goals in all competitions this season, of which only three came in the Premier League-and none of these so far in 2025.
But losing circle for the Lyon game is a blow. He used the bank in the first leg, a gate that looked like the game was winning until Rayan Cherki had a compensation from Rayan Cherki. He also found the network in the last 16 against Real Sociedad and generally felt better in Europe.
Winning the Europa League this season is absolutely important for United. It would not only soften a large trophy for the third year in succession in the feast of a historically bad domestic campaign for the association, but also open an urgently needed door in the Champions League in the next season and the associated riches in the competition in Europe.
