Liverpool has confirmed that the central defender Virgil van Dijk has put a new contract on paper.
The Reds were exposed to considerable pressure throughout the season to solve the future of Van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold before the end of their contracts this summer. While this is expected that the latter will leave a free transmission, Salah got the ball rolling last week by stinking fresh conditions.
Van Dijk has now followed the example and has put a new two -year contract on paper on paper.
“I am very happy, very proud,” van Dijk told Club Media. “There are obviously so many emotions that I just go through my head.
“It is a proud feeling that it is a feeling of joy. It is simply incredible. The journey that I have had in my career so far is fantastic and I am so happy to extend it in this club for another two years.”
There was significant speculation that Van Dijk could move to another European giant – Real Madrid and Paris Saint -Germain were both advertised as applicants – but the central defender insisted that he always wanted to expand with Liverpool.
“It was always a Liverpool,” he emphasized. “That was the case. It was always in my head, it was always the plan and it was always Liverpool.
“There was no doubt in my head that this is the right place for me and my family. I am one of Liverpool. Someone recently called me an adopted scouser – I am really proud to hear these things, it gives me a big feeling.”
