Rushworth, the Brighton Value more than 5 million GBP, is expected to push for one step after finding his route to the first team that was blocked by the form of Bart.

The 23-year-old, who borrowed the first half of the season in Hull, is also persecuted by West Ham and believes that he is ready to play in the Premier League.

However, the young goalkeeper was not always confident that his football dreams became a reality.

After Rushworth started at Crossley Juniors FC and opposed his parents’ preference for the Rugby League, he was picked up by Huddersfield Town, where he stayed up to the age of 16.

But the early career of the goalkeeper was plagued by rejections. After being released by Huddersfield, the 23-year-old was tested in Bradford, Chesterfield and Rochdale to get No’s.

“I felt like I was in a downward spiral and everything went wrong,” said Rushworth.

“Then I actually had meeting in my school because I thought about the sixth form.

“I thought I wouldn’t make a career out of football, so I had to have this backup.”

He continued: “Fortunately, Halifax said, they told me that if it hadn’t worked with the other three clubs, they would have a place for me.”

The youngster, now on the Radar of United, admitted that he enjoyed that he worked in a night club, on a ski slope and in the insurance industry.

“I worked in a night club to collect glass collecting,” said Rushworth, “I wasn’t old enough to work behind the bar!”

During his time on a ski slope, the goalkeeper took over a position as a waiter in a café.

“I wasn’t very good,” said Rushworth.

“On my first layer I went and took the orders out of the tables and put them in the kitchen, but when they cling the bell for the service, I had no idea what it meant.

“I didn’t do anything, so I think that a few people didn’t get their food or that their food was pretty cold when they got it.

“I was back on the ski slope pretty soon afterwards!”

Rushworth’s efforts in Halifax meant that he soon put a trio of exams with the Premier League teams: Manchester United, Arsenal and Brighton.

“I went to Brighton and saw her facilities, then Manchester United,” said the 23-year-old.

“It is astonishing to see everything and go past the training area in some players.

“I thought I was only on college two days ago and now I’m down here.”

“I also had some time in Arsenal. It turned my world upside down and I loved it every minute.”

On his decision to join the southern side, he said: “When it came to the decision, I had spent most of the time in Brighton. I was there first and loved it absolutely.”

As part of its development with the seagulls, the goalkeeper had spell with Worthing, Walsall, Lincoln City and Swansea.

Brighton remembered Rushworth from Hull in January 2025, when they confirmed that goalkeeper Jason Steele had an operation.
