The descent of Ipswich Town from the Premier League has now been confirmed and the vultures are already circulating their best and smartest.
Not many impressed the top flight during the short return of Ipswich, but Liam Delap was certainly a bright light. The 22-year-old, who only signed for the tractor boys last summer, is the leading goal scorer of the club at a distance and is already fascinating Europe’s elite.
Delap’s relegation publication clause is even more tempting for potential applicants, which has now been activated according to Ipswich. A price fee for a player of such quality and potential will almost certainly prove to be too good to ignore this summer.
But how much is Delap’s clause worth? And who will trigger it when the transfer market is opened?
Ipswich took a Punt on Delap last summer, after an impressive loan magic at Hull City in the championship had issued an initial £ 15 million for the Manchester City Academy graduates – with 5 million pounds of potential addons. But Kieran McKenna’s team is unlikely to have hoped for the young Englishman.
According to Ipswich’s descent, Delap will now be available for only 30 million GBP. It is an incredibly affordable price for a player of his age with such a future potential and who already has an invaluable Premier League experience. The mighty center forward has proven even the strictest defense in the department and should only thrive among teammates with higher quality.
It is not surprising that Delap’s name is already filling gossip columns.
Several Premier League giants are on the market for a new striker this summer. Only Delap’s former club Manchester City is well stacked, with Erling Haaland and Omar Marmoush. But those like Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Arsenal need all attacking reinforcements.
However, it is Chelsea and Manchester United that were most associated with Delap. The blues are never shy to go into the market, and Christopher Nkunku is expected to be unloaded this summer because they are looking for someone who can share Nicolas Jackson’s workload. Of course, Enzo Maresca may not be in the Stamford Bridge interruption next season, which could drastically change the transfer plans, but Delap remains a specific goal.
United needs another center forward. The sad form of Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund – of which none of which is safe from Old Trafford – means that a new striker is a necessity for Ruben Amorim. Delap divides certain characteristics with Viktor Gyokoker from Sporting CP – height, strength and goal wind instinct – that Ruben Amorim converted into a superstar.
However, the couple of Newcastle United are exposed to a significant competition, the Delap to Alexander Isak is added, and it would not be a surprise that more pages will start the race because the price of delaps is set.
