Player ratings as Cityzens reach FA Cup final

Manchester City will meet Cystal Palace in the FA Cup final next month after defeating 2-0 in Wembley Nottingham Forest on Sunday afternoon.

Rico Lewis brought the Cityzens to the perfect start when he received Mateo Kovacics Pass on the edge of the forest box and slot past Matz Sels to open the goal less than two minutes after the competition.

Guardiola’s side was excellent in the opening exchanges and claimed all-out control. Nottingham Forest was limited to the counterattack and tried to recover from her early setback. A lack of clear openings from the city after they had gone before the lead meant a goal at half -time.

The replacement of Anthony Elanga would have had to restore parity immediately after entering the fight, but he had investigated his first efforts by Callum Hudson -odois Cross. City then delivered the Swedish international for his great Miss by doubling her advantage through a Josko Gvardiol headball.

Forest had to climb a mountain, but they refused to surrender to their rare Wembley Day. They came closer several times to halve the deficit, and Morgan Gibbs-White scored the woodwork twice before Taiwo Awoniyi scored against the post.

The fine margins were for the city, and forests misfortune in front of the goal made it possible for Guardiola’s team to play out the last few minutes with a little comfort.
