Marc-Andre Ter Stgen will return to Barcelona against Real Valladolid on Saturday, manager Hansi Flick confirmed.
Ter Stegen went under in August 2024 with a cruel knee injury and prompted Barcelona to lure the Poland International Wojciech Szczesny out of retirement.
Now back to the full fitness, Ter Stegen will only appear his eighth appearance of the season as a starter against Valladolid.
“He will be back tomorrow,” Flick told the media when he confirmed that Ter Stegen will return to his starting line -up.
However, the boss rejected Ter Stegen or Szczesny, who in the past few weeks of the campaign in the absence of the German was very impressed by offering assurances.
“I think it’s good for goalkeepers,” he said. “It is good for Szczesny to rest and recover. Ter Stamen is very good in training. He can play now. I think about nothing now, only the Valladolid game that is for the jetty. I don’t know what will happen beyond this.”
Before the game on Saturday, Flick confirmed that he plans to change his squad and give his players the chance to rest, as the Champions League has an important focus for the boss next week. The two sides pulled 3: 3 in the week and so there is everything to play when Barcelona goes to Milan to do the return.
“We have to do what the medical staff says and see who can play,” he admitted. “Important days come and we should clearly turn.”
