Ange Postecoglou offers surprise injury update

Postecoglou showed that Tottenham Hotspur follows a particularly careful approach to Micky van de Ven’s return from a knee tendon Injury.

Van de Ven has suffered four problems with the thigh since he switched to Spurs in 2023 and missed seven weeks in the festive time because of his latest problem. He returned to Elfsborg at the end of January, but was replaced during the game and has not been seen since then.

With fans who feared another setback for Van de Ven, Poseteclou insisted that there are no new concerns, and Spurs simply work to ensure that the 23-year-old finally overcomes his injury.

“I think we decided with Micky to take another strategy,” said Postecoglou. “We just want to make sure that he is absolutely right … to speak to different people, he works with various medical teams and rehab workers to ensure that he is right.

“He works well and feels good what is positive.”

Postecoglou awaits van de Ven in the next three weeks alongside central defender Cristian Romero and Dominic Solanke and Richarlison.

“Similar to Cuti,” said Postecoglou about Romero. “We just wait. The healing in his quad takes longer than we thought. He has another scan to make sure that it is healed correctly. As soon as we can dissuade this registration, we should go well.”
