Antony said that Liverpool had stopped him as Mohamed Salah’s replacement in the summer of 2022 before finally tied together Manchester United for £ 80.
The Brazilian striker was little more than the example of the waste of money before recovering his career as a loan actor at Real Betis this year. After helping Ajax to win two top top top title titles, Antony was classified two and a half years ago as one of the most promising right-wing wings in Europe.
So his high status was that Liverpool apparently watched him as an alternative to Salah at a time when the future of the Egyptian striker was uncertain when it was accompanied by contract negotiations.
“It is true, I was very short to sign at Liverpool, but nobody knows what would have happened,” Antony told the Arab Outlet Koora. “In the end I went to Manchester United, I had great moments there and it was also a good choice.
“Salah is an incredible player and he has been doing extraordinary things for a long time. He is an extraordinary footballer. I don’t know if he is the best in the world at the moment, but he is certainly one of the best and is seriously fighting for the balloon d’Or.”
While Salah ultimately stayed in Liverpool, Antony got his Premier League movement in the same summer and met again with his former Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag. After his first three appearances of the Premier League, the one-foot winger scored only two more goals in 59 subsequent games. For comparison: Salah scored 56 goals of the Premier League in the same period.
Antony never looked at under Ruben Amorim and had already fallen against United in United towards United at the end of the Ten Hag’s term. But there is no bad blood between players and managers. “I am ten HAG very grateful for everything we experienced together, including the title,” insisted Antony. “In the end I’ve played less lately, but I prefer to remember the great moments that we shared.”
The 25 -year -old set his remarkable increase in the form of Betis – where he quickly committed himself to exceeding his modest performance for United – to an increase in trust. “I found myself here and that’s why I’m very happy in Betis,” he said. “I feel safer every day.”
However, Amorim argued that the reduced physical requirements of the Spain leadership was undoubtedly an important factor compared to the Premier League.
