Antony’s electric Real Betis start halted by reckless red card

Antony’s dream begins with Real Betis Abrup when he was shown a red card at Getafe’s victory on Sunday.

After changing the loan from Manchester United last month, Antony achieved an immediate influence and achieved a return of three goals and two templates from just six games in all competitions. In La Liga, he contributed to four goals in just as many games after making only eight target contributions in 62 Premier League games with United.

When life went swimming for Antony, he was brought back to earth in the dying embers of the game on Sunday when a ruthless lung brought a straight card.

The Brazilian’s attempt to dribble past a defender saw him pushing the ball too far and when it became clear that he had lost the foot race, he made a desperate route to bring Juan Iglesias without the intention play.

Referee Javier Alberola Rojas saw the cynical challenge and gave Antony his marching commands.

While Betis has publicly confirmed her plan to make an appeal against his suspension, Antony seems to be eliminated on March 1 for visiting Real Madrid.

“It will be regrettable to lose him for the next game, but it will also serve as a learning experience for him,” said Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini after the game. “He has enormous talent, we hope that he will continue.”
