The Liverpool manager Arne Slot insisted that a final decision about Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future in the club has not yet been achieved.
The Reds were exposed to considerable contract uncertainty all season after Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk had all entered the last 12 months of their respective business. The fans sweat that three-star players could leave free of charge.
In the last few weeks after confirmation of new contracts for Salah and Van Dijk, these tensions have made a significant easier, although these agreements only agreed to rely on Alexander-Arnold and to join Real Madrid during a free transfer.
The process of bringing Alexander-Arnold to Madrid is not yet considered formally complete and the slot confirmed as much when he spoke to the media with Leicester City before the meeting on Sunday.
“I think they would be surprised if I would answer differently as the rest of the season,” said Slot, when I was forced to Alexander-Arnold’s contract.
“It is the same answer for hours: we don’t talk about these things if they are not finished and not.”
Already in February it was reported that Liverpool was hopeful that Alexander-Arnold was ultimately thrown by an emotional bond to the red, although the feelings will probably be overwhelming when the slot team title was closed in the title of Premier League.
How much Alexander-Arnold will play in run-in is not yet clear. An ankle injury kept him off for over a month, although he gives confidence that he will soon return to help his team to fame.
“Trent comes back from an injury and trains this week with us, he has shown his commitment and shows me what kind of player he is when he is on the field and how much he works hard to return with the team and fans of Liverpool,” said Slot. “Everyone who sees football knows that they are an incredible full -back for this club. Let’s see what the future brings.
“Trent is not ready to start, but if things go well today and tomorrow, he could – – – – – – – – – – – [against Leicester]. The first session with the team was on Wednesday, so unable to start, but let’s see if he can join us. It would be nice if he were with us. “
