Arsenal eye up ex-Manchester United target Benjamin Sesko as striker option as they put forward up for sale

According to The Pitch Prospect, Benjamin Sesko has emerged as a striker option for Arsenal while Eddie Nketiah faces an uncertain future.

The Gunners are believed to have made signing a new centre-forward a top priority this summer.

Newcastle star Alexander Isak has been linked with Sporting Lisbon’s Victor Gyokeres and Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee.

But RB Leipzig star Sesko – a long-term target of Manchester United – is also on the north London giants’ radar.

The 20-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in 2022, but instead moved to Leipzig where he impressed in Germany.

Sesko’s agent Elvis Basanovic was at the Theater of Dreams on Sunday to watch Arsenal beat United 1-0 and last month he was also present at the Emirates Stadium to witness the 5-0 win over Chelsea.

The youngster’s possible arrival at Arsenal could see Hale End graduate Nketiah leave the club, with the 24-year-old being put up for sale as he has fallen down the pecking order.

Crystal Palace are known to be admirers of the England international and have inquired about his services ahead of the winter transfer window.

Sesko, who spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Red Bull Salzburg, has scored 17 goals across all competitions this season – 13 of them in the Bundesliga.

Since January 27, the Slovenian international has scored either a league goal or an assist in every game he has started, with the striker scoring in each of his last six games.

Sesko was seen as an attractive option by potential suitors as his release clause is reportedly £42.8m.

But due to his good form, Sky Deutschland claimed earlier this month his clause had skyrocketed and could now be as high as £64million.

Mikel Arteta is believed to be looking for a physical striker as he has deployed Kai Havertz in the center forward position after using him as a box-to-box midfielder in the first half of the season.

And Sesko, at 1.90 meters tall, fits the bill perfectly and is capable of adding a new dimension to Arsenal’s frontline.
