Arsenal are sweating over the fitness of defender Jurrien Timber after he hobbled with an apparent hamstring injury during Sunday’s defeat to Manchester United Injury.
The Gunners were eliminated from the FA Cup on penalties after a grueling 120 minutes, made worse by the serious knee injury suffered by Gabriel Jesus, whose condition Mikel Arteta has left “concerned”.
Unfortunately, Jesus may not have been the only one injured as Arsenal also lost Timber early in the second period of extra time.
“Timber was limping and holding his Achilles tendon – and signaled to the bench that he had to get off.” Simon Collings reported at the time.
Arteta made no mention of Timber’s condition after the game, with most questions focusing on the worrying sight of Jesus leaving the pitch on a stretcher.
If Timber faces a break, it will be a huge blow for Arteta, who has relied on the Dutchman in the absence of the injured Ben White, who is out with a long-term knee problem.
Takehiro Tomiyasu is also unavailable with a knee injury, meaning Arsenal would be without a natural right-back if Timber is out. Midfielder Thomas Partey previously played in this position.
