A mass sale of players in the first team followed and Willian left Chelsea in a club record sales worth £ 30m in August.

The blues not only signed an energetic winger who previously shone at Shakhtar Donetsk, but also one over her bitter London rival.

Willian traveled to Spurs for a medical way before an expected step, only for his agent Kia Joorabchian, to inform him about Chelsea’s offer.

In 2018 he revealed: “I said:” So do yourself, I’ll get back in the van, you will do it and I’ll go to Chelsea, I will not sign at Tottenham. “”

Spurs smoked during the transmission, but for Willian the decision to join Chelsea would ultimately deliver immense success.

He won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, the League Cup and the Europa League during his seven-year stay in West London.

Willian was not a contract at the end of the 2019/20 season and could not agree to new conditions.

The Gunners made him a three-year contract worth £ 240,000 per week and two templates in a 3-0 win against Fulham made a promising debut.

However, Willian’s form fell together with a dark results when Arsenal took 15th place in the Premier League.

And after only three months in the club, he explained his intentions of an exit, as he later said: “I was not happy, so I didn’t appear. I didn’t want to go into the details, but I wasn’t happy.

“When I arrived there, I was happy, I was motivated from the start. I wanted to do a new club, new friends, new projects.

“After three months I told my agent:” Please, I want to go “. I don’t want to talk badly about the club because it is a big club, has a big story in football, since big players have already played there, it is a big club.

“But it didn’t work, of course it was the most difficult time of my career.”

Willian finally had his arsenal contract terminated in August 2021 and thus went away from around £ 20 million.

“It was a big money I gave up,” he added. “But sometimes money is not the most important thing in life.

“I think you have to be happy to wake up every day in the morning to go into training. I didn’t have that.

“I said to myself that I can’t stay here with my family, I’m not happy here. I have to go, find a way out, leave the club, because if I stay, I’ll stay right away.

“For me it is unfair to stay in a place where you don’t just want to stay because of the money. For me it was.”

Willian only scored one goal in 37 appearances for Arsenal before returning to Corinthians in Brazil.

However, he only spent a year in his youth club after he and his family threatened.

“I did not return to be threatened,” he insisted on it. “When Corinthians lost a game or I didn’t play well, my family received death threats and scolded on social media.

“First they aimed at my wife and daughters, after a while my father and sister were also bombarded with news.”

The former Brazilian international then signed at Olympiacos in Greece, but after less than four months he returned to Fulham.

The deputy chairman of Cottager Tony Khan told Talksport in February that the winger would come back “Am Bit” to come back.

“Willian is a Fulham man, he has been a great player for us in the past seasons.

“If you look at the contributions that Willian has done on and next to the field, what a fantastic man! We all love Willian and it made so much sense for him to return to the football club.”

It was announced in June that Willian would not stay in Craven Cottage, with the 36-year-old now a free agent.
