Aston Villa and Everton plot double deal with midfielder and winger set to switch clubs

Everton are close to completing a £10 million deal for Aston Villa starlet Tim Iroegbunam.

Meanwhile, Villa are close to signing Everton winger Lewis Dobbin in a separate deal.

Iroegbunam has played a total of 19 games for Villa.

The 20-year-old midfielder Iroegbunam made 15 appearances for Aston Villa last season, securing the team a place in the Champions League in the Premier League.

He spent the previous season on loan at QPR, with the team finishing 20th in the EFL Championship.

With the young player now desperate to break into the first team, a move to Sean Dyche’s Toffees would likely suit his ambitions well.

Meanwhile, Everton Academy graduate Dobbin has made 20 appearances for Everton since 2021.

The 21-year-old spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Derby County, where he scored five goals in 54 appearances.

Last season, he scored one goal in 15 appearances for Sean Dyche’s team, securing 15th place in the Premier League.

But the Merseyside club are expected to let the striker move to Villa Park this summer.

Both Iroegbunam and Dobbin have played for England’s youth teams, with the former making six appearances for the U19s and seven for the U20s.

Dobbin scored against Chelsea in December last year.

The deal will provide both clubs with much-needed financial stability.

Dobbin has since played for the U16, U17 and U19 national teams and scored eight international goals in all age groups.

It is a double deal that would improve the financial position of both clubs amid ongoing concerns over compliance with the Premier League’s FFP rules.
