Aston Villa hold talks with AC Milan over £20million summer transfer for Matty Cash

As The Pitch Prospect has learned, AC Milan have negotiated with Aston Villa over a transfer of Matty Cash.

The “Villans” estimate the value of the Polish international Cash at around 20 million pounds.

Villa right-back Cash could leave the Midlands this summer.

Cash has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most consistent right-backs since joining Villa in 2020.

This led to the English-born defender becoming a regular in Poland’s squad, for which he has already made 15 international appearances.

However, the 26-year-old was not included in Poland’s squad for the 2024 European Championship as he continues to recover from a calf injury.

With three years left on his contract at Villa Park, Cash’s time in the Midlands could soon be coming to an end.

Villa are expected to offload a number of key players this summer in an effort to comply with profit and sustainability rules.

Unai Emery’s men reported a loss of £119 million in their accounts by May 31, 2023.

And Cash could be one of those the club reluctantly part with as they prepare for next season’s Champions League campaign.

Since joining from Nottingham Forest in a £16 million deal in 2020, Cash has appeared in 142 games in all competitions, scoring nine goals.

The 26-year-old signed a five-year contract extension until 2022, but may no longer be part of Emery’s plans.

In a recent interview, Cash praised the Spaniard’s influence on the club, without giving any indication of an impending departure.

“It just shows where the club is going,” he said in an interview with Sky Sports. “The fact that the boss has stayed is a great thing.”

“Since he has been here, he has made the club so much better in terms of our playing style and performance.

“Of course, the club and the fans speak for themselves, because they have a big part in it.

“The fans really run the club. The fact that we are doing really well off the pitch, with the manager and behind the scenes shows that things can only go up for Villa.

“We keep our fingers crossed that we can get off to a good start next year.”

If he were to move to San Siro, he would likely compete with captain Davide Calabria for a place in the starting eleven.

Cash is not the only Villa player who could go to Italy; Juventus also have Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz in their sights.

The Pitch Prospect understands that the Old Lady are confident of signing the 26-year-old in a two-player plus cash transfer.

Weston McKennie and Samuel Iling-Junior are likely to feature in any deal as Villa need to raise the necessary funds by the end of June.
