After scoring 16 goals in their first four games of 2025, Barcelona now need to transfer their Supercopa de Espana and Copa del Rey form to LaLiga.
The Catalan giants ended 2024 on a pretty miserable note, losing two games in a row to Leganes and Atletico Madrid and falling short of the pace set by league leaders Diego Simeone.
Thanks to comprehensive victories against Athletic Club and Real Madrid in Saudi Arabia, Hansi Flick’s side secured the Supercopa title and defeated Real Betis in the domestic cup competition.
Now Flick’s protégés are expecting a trip to Getafe, who will have to keep pushing.
TW: Inaki Pena – Marc Andre ter-Stegen remains on the treatment table, allowing academy graduate Pena to continue between the posts.
RB: Jules Kounde – The Frenchman is a consistent and consistent performer for Barcelona who can be a nuisance in the final third.
CB: Pau Cubarsi – The 17-year-old is about to celebrate his 18th birthday – what earlier way could you celebrate than without conceding a goal in the capital?
CB: Ronald Araujo – With Inigo Martinez out, the recently returned Araujo should continue alongside Barcelona’s boy wonder. The Uruguayan is expected to sign a new contract after rumors emerged about a possible transfer to Juventus or Arsenal.
LB: Alejandro Balde – If the Spanish press is to be believed, the young Spaniard would be released if Barca received a suitable offer. Given Balde’s potential, it’s hard to imagine why that should be the case.
CM: Marc Casado – Frenkie de Jong’s regular observations demonstrate how good Casado was in the defensive midfield role. He just loves mopping up and intercepting the ball.
CM: Pedri – The 22-year-old appears to have finally put his injury problems behind him, much to the delight of Pedri’s teammates, the coaching staff and Barca fans.
RM: Lamine Yamal – The world’s best teenager from Barcelona played 77 minutes in the Copa del Rey clash against Real Betis but should still be fit here.
AM: Gavi – Dani Olmo has been recalled to Barcelona’s squad for the Copa del Rey – giving Robert Lewandowski a handy break – but the Spaniard may watch as Gavi is sidelined.
LM: Raphinha – The Brazilian’s Barcelona career seemed to be long over. Now, after a blockbuster half-year, he is one of the first names on Flick’s team list.
ST: Robert Lewandowski – 17 league goals are Lewandowski’s worst goal tally since his debut season at FC Bayern Munich in 2010/11. He already has 16 LaLiga goals to his name in 18 appearances this season.
