Barcelona hopes to finally return to Camp Nou from the first few weeks of the next season, according to a report.
The world -famous stadium has not kicked a ball since the 2022/23 campaign, and Barca played “home games” at the Estati Olimpic Lluis Companys in the neighborhood of Montjuic.
It should be a temporary measure for last season, but delays in the Camp Nou renovation project have expanded to double the originally expected length.
However, the last steps are taken to ensure that the facility will start again with the host games in the coming months. Mundo Deportivo writes that the field has now been placed and was completely installed in advance so that it can be ready in September.
Barcelona had previously confirmed that the pitch laying process would take about ten weeks and that the time frame should also remove further setbacks and delays.
The Camp NOU project will not be fully completed next season. The stadium must work with a reduced capacity during the reopening. But still more than 60,000, it will be one step in relation to the size and thus invaluable income on the matchday.
The final completion of all renovation work is expected before the 2026/27 season, which restores the capacity to over 100,000.
In an official statement in February, Barcelona addressed the previous delays.
“The development of the works has undergone several unforgivable functions, a common situation in projects of this size,” argued the club.
“These are due to factors such as the availability of materials, the lack of qualified workers and the unplanned work, aspects that have made changes in the execution plans very closely from the start.”
