Birmingham has won May’s contract.

May said goodbye to Charlton on Friday as reports of his possible departure emerged.

The 30-year-old joined The Valley last summer after signing a two-year deal from Cheltenham Town for a reported £250,000 transfer fee.

He stormed to the League One Golden Boot with 23 league goals and helped save the Addicks from relegation to League Two.

May was also named Charlton Player of the Year.

The Gravesend-born goalscorer played for Millwall as a youth but was released at the age of 14.

A career in the amateur league followed before he was signed by Doncaster Rovers in 2017.

In the calendar year 2023, May scored more goals than Manchester City’s outstanding goalscorer Erling Haaland.
