Carlo Ancelotti responds after Vinicius Junior slammed by Real Madrid teammates in Leganes win


Carlo Ancelotti has admitted that the opinion of older players like Luka Modric has to be respected after the Croatian veteran under the Real Madrid players belonged to criticize Vinicius Junior during the victory on Wednesday.

Ancelotti opted for a twisted page for the Copa del Rey on Wednesday, turned to Vinicius from the bank at halftime, just before Leganes spent it 2-2. While you ultimately won the game in the stop time, the tensions were high in the second half and Vinicius was at the receiving end of some selection words from Modric.

When Madrid prepared for the defense of a corner, Modric Vinicius was able to scold defense efforts because of the lack of defense. The Brazilian pointed back to a clearly angry Modric and was then targeted by Federico Valverde for his answer.

After the game, Ancelotti was asked about the incident, and although he claimed not to know what had happened, he was happy with the experienced Modric.

“I don’t know if he told him something, but if he did it, Modric always has to be respected,” Ancelotti told the media.

Modric himself was interested in struggling with the incident and insisted that it was simply a natural event in a typical game.

“These are things that happen in football,” he said. “You see everything you shouldn’t see.”
